John Murphy is a partner in Clarence Ventures, an early stage fund focused on start-up technology companies. In this role, he has been actively involved in launching seven new companies. John is an accountant and financial manager by training and experience. Immediately prior to his involvement with Clarence, he was a senior executive and member of the Board of Directors of Software 2000, Inc. (Infinium Software), now a part of SSA Global. John held the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Sales Operations and Managing Director of an independent business unit. Prior to Software 2000, he spent fifteen years in healthcare administration and financial management. John has an undergraduate degree from Babson College and a Masters degree from Western New England College, both in Business Administration. He has taught courses in healthcare and financial management at the graduate level at Lesley College and Western New England College. He currently sits on the boards of five private companies and several charitable organizations.
Dr. O'Toole worked as a surgical pathologist for forty years. After attending the University of Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins Medical School, he worked for several major research hospitals and institutions, and served on the faculty of Georgetown and Harvard Medical Schools. Dr. O'Toole spent the final 30 years of his career as Chief of Pathology at Cape Cod Hospital. Among other accomplishments, as MEDITECH's first customer, he pioneered the use of laboratory information systems to improve the quality of laboratory medicine and pathology.
Mike Valentine joined the mTuitive team in the fall of 2004. He graduated from Brown University in 1991 with a double business major and worked as a sales representative with Merck & Co. He quickly climbed the corporate ladder at Merck, developing his skills in marketing and management. After leaving Merck, Mr. Valentine gave into his entrepreneurial spirit and founded a successful business on Cape Cod, which he operated for 10 years. His vast experience in all aspects of business is essential to mTuitive's developmental objectives.
Colin brings an extensive background in product management, business development and marketing to the mTuitive family. Colin earned a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Claremont McKenna College. He began his career as a Venture Capital Analyst for San Francisco's Pinnacle Partners, Inc. before founding his own equity investment hedge fund, specializing in biotechnology and Internet communications. He joined startup software firm Obongo as a Business Development and Product Marketing Manager where he helped to grow them to over 100 employees and sell the company to AOL Time Warner. At AOL, Colin managed multiple products for the AOL and Netscape brands.
Dr. Law has a technical background in computer science and holds three advanced degrees in experimental psychology and human factors psychology, an applied field of psychology concerned with the user-centered design of human-machine interfaces. Dr. Law is a member of the American Psychological Society and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and has published research articles in several scientific journals. He has consulted for Fortune 500 firms on the design of client-server applications for the various enterprises. He also has extensive experience designing and implementing web-based data enabled solutions, and has co-founded a company that markets one of these solutions to universities around the world. His recent projects have focused on the design and development of mobile solutions for computerized maintenance management systems based on service-oriented architectures comprised of XML Web Services. Dr. Law earned his degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Washington University.
Peter O'Toole leads engineering and product development. At mTuitive, O'Toole designed and developed the mTuitive Agile Author, a visual tool that lets medical experts encode their knowledge as data and rules. He works closely with MDs to turn their knowledge into applications using mTuitive's unique tools and platform. He is mTuitive's technical and subject matter liaison to Cancer Care Ontario as well as other standards groups and professional societies. Presently, O'Toole is leading development of a new operative reporting product, including a port of mTuitive's core technology to a web-based solution using Microsoft Silverlight. He has previous experience in development, technical writing, and product marketing during stints at Cognitive Arts, eObject, and SilverStream Software. O'Toole holds a bachelor of arts from Brown University.
Veronica Klepeis earned her undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, where she earned a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree. After completing her residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, she continued on to pursue two years of fellowship training in both Hematopathology and Pathology Informatics also at MGH. Dr. Klepeis is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with the American Board of Pathology.
John Everson heads the professional services and customer support at mTuitive. With over 20 years of experience, his professional background includes large-scale mobile implementations, professional services, customer support management, and technical sales. John's previous leadership roles include management positions at companies such as Jostens Learning, Infinium Software and Akula Software, a mobile applications provider.
