Katherine Rowell joins mTuitive’s Board of Directors

Brings 25 years of experience and healthcare data expertise

Boston, MA - mTuitive, the leading provider for synoptic reporting solutions, announced an addition to its Board of Directors - Katherine S. Rowell. One of the most respected voices in the field of healthcare data, Ms. Rowell was responsible for rolling out National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) to well over 300 hospitals in the US and Canada. NSQIP, the first risk-adjusted and validated surgical outcome program in the world, collects data on clinical variables (e.g., preoperative risk factors, intraoperative variables and 30-day postoperative mortality and morbidity outcomes) for surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is currently the founder and principal of Katherine S. Rowell & Associates, who "teach and advise organizations how to correctly capture and manage their health care data."

"Kathy isn't just a great proponent of capturing healthcare data - she is the greatest proponent for it," said John Murphy, mTuitive's CEO and founder. "Kathy brings a knowledge about effective data capture and research that is unparalleled in the field. Coupled with her experiences working with some of the biggest initiatives in quality reporting, Kathy has unique insight and perspective that is starting to reshape modern medical care and research."

Ms. Rowell has published numerous papers on the benefits of correctly capturing and applying healthcare data in treatments, as well as establishing Massachusetts General Hospital's Codman Center for Clinical Effectiveness in Surgery, which encourages surgical outcomes research. In addition to her many projects and contributions to improving data capture in healthcare, Ms. Rowell has a B.S. in Business Management and a Master of Health Administration from the University of New Hampshire, and a Master of Science degree from the Dartmouth Medical School. She is on the faculty at Brandeis University’s Medical Informatics Graduate Program and is a charter member of the Collaborative Care Technology Work Group.

"Quality data capture is only going to increase in importance in healthcare," Rowell said, "and mTuitive offers the best ways of capturing that information. Their solutions embody the philosophy that I've been speaking about for many years - integrating important data capture within current workflows in order to improve the quality of research and patient care."
